| (1) Tell us a little bit about the Label, how long have you been around, how many records have you put out? In 1987 Upstairs Records, Inc opened its doors as a local retail music shop in San Jose, California. Within two years, the store became popular and very profitable. This was an opportunity to expand and become larger. In 1989 Upstairs Records, Inc established itself as an official record label and an artist management company. A Dance/Freestyle act named Daise became the first artist signed to Upstairs Records. The popularity of Daise and strategic marketing by Upstairs Records gave them a great reputation as a fast growing and strong company in a very tough industry. |

The Latin/Hispanic market was also a rapidly growing market that Upstairs Records was very interested in targeting. Upstairs Records has been able to cover many types of music styles and fads. With Strong Dance/Freestyle acts like Daise, Spanish Fly and Angelina to unique R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap artist like NB Ridaz and Lil Rob, Upstairs Records has the music industry conquered. With many loyal fans, Upstairs Records has become a very strong Latin/Hispanic independent company. The targeting of the Latin/Hispanic market has become a unique specialty that Upstairs Records has been able to successfully attain. |
Upstairs Records has accomplished many goals and has become a firm independent label that is strong enough to work with the majors. With thanks to all of the fans and hard work, Upstairs Records has been able to reach a great level and accomplish many goals in the industry. There are many more goals planned for the future and development of the company. Upstairs Records is in a constant transition growing towards the next level. Upstairs Records, Inc has had a successful and fun journey in the music business and will continue to proceed in achieving universal goals (2) Did Upstairs Records already have a Street Team in place before joining with Fancorps? if so, how was it? lots of members? lots of activity? Upstairs records had a street team established before Fancorps. A large street team! Fancorps has helped contain and actually manage the street team through its quality and outstanding management system!!! (3) How has the transition been getting things set up on Fancorps? The transition has been a hard one, with the street team being used to not having to go through a bootcamp and such, a lot of street team members have not come through yet, but the bootcamp has actually been great for us to determine who is really going to be an official Upstairs street team member and help out and who is trying to just get free stuff!!! (4) From the looks of things it has started off well, over 100 team members in just a few weeks. Has the response from the new members been good? Response from the new members has been AWESOME!!!!! the new members and old ones returning to see how much more is in order. Fancorps has really benefited us. (5) What's coming up for Upstairs? Any new releases/tours for any of your artists in the near future? Upstairs Records has a very big year up ahead of us!!!! With the signing of a new national recording artist Amanda Perez, the release of Lil Rob's new Twelve Eighteen Part II album and the latest release of the New Ridaz!!!! Upstairs Records has claimed 2007 as the official year we will make HISTORY!!!! Fancorps has been a great tool for us to use for our street team, we hope to grow and build a great relationship with Fancorps throughout the years!!!!!!!! |
